The story behind Heliotrope

 

My background brings together a career of over 20 years working in property, interior design, sales, marketing and as a PA for senior leaders at organisations including LVMH, M&S, Sainsbury’s and the NHS.

 

Those roles taught me to understand busy people, manage competing priorities and keep things moving.

 

After working as an estate agent in Amersham, I realised my heart lay in designing homes. I gained experience in London architecture and interiors practices before training within a commercial design and fit-out firm.

 

I founded Heliotrope Homes to combine meaningful work with family life. After managing our own moves and renovations, a friend asked me to help with her Wimbledon property. That conversation at my son’s first birthday party became the real beginning of a lasting business.

 

More than 50 properties later, I help homeowners make confident decisions, spend thoughtfully and create homes that look and feel right for them.

It was clear when first meeting Tamzin that she was a very focussed & driven individual. This proved so when discovering there was minimal architect's input on the redesigning of her home. Her plans that she had drawn were very accurate & her eye for detail was exceptional. Her vision & confidence were clear to see & if there was the opportunity to change something for the better then it was always taken. The end result of the project has left Tamzin with a very beautiful & functional family home. Working alongside Tamzin was an absolute pleasure & made our job as the main contractor that much easier.

CFW Architects’ Director Martyn Wiltshire worked closely on the concept and detailed design with Tamzin Newby for the extension and refurbishment of Faircroft, a listed building in the village of Abbotts Ann. The proposed extension and link building replaced an existing 20th Century single storey outbuilding and required sensitive negotiations with conservation. The internal remodelling was designed and specified by Tamzin.

We used Heliotrope Interior Design during the build of our traditional farmhouse in Hampshire. Tamzin’s help was invaluable in achieving our vision - she took our ideas on board, advised and added many of her own and sourced curtains, paints and wallpaper to name but a few. Tamzin was easy to work with and made the whole interior process pleasurable and stress free.
